Angel Medina

Angel L. Medina joined the Metropolitan Police Department in September 1985. After graduating from the police academy, Angel Medina was assigned to the Fourth District as patrol officer. During his 24 years service, Angel Medina ascended through positions and ranks as Investigator, Detective Grade Two, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain. He worked in a variety of assignments and managerial positions to include Internal Affairs and Homicide Divisions. Angel Medina’s accomplishments include recognition for improved crime reduction and community relations in the former Patrol Service Area (PSA) 409. District Cable 16 featured the success story. In 2007, Chief Cathy L. Lanier transferred Angel Medina to the Patrol Support Team (PST) initiative where he developed effective strategies that improved overall PST performance. For example, in 2009 PST exceeded arrests by over 700% from the previous year.

Throughout his career, Angel Medina received several Commanding Officers’ Commendations, citizen letters of appreciation and Unit Citation.

Angel Medina is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (FBINA) and the Police Executive Development Advanced Program (POLEX) sponsored by Penn State University. Angel Medina is currently attending the George Washington University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Police Science.

In December 2009, Chief Lanier selected Angel Medina to serve as Inspector and assigned him to the Third District Sub-station. He continues supporting the substation location at 750 Park Road, NW, now located in the Fourth District as parf of the Metropolitan Police Department's January 1, 2012 realignment.
