Police Officer Report Tool (PORT)
On March 8, 2007, fifteen of the Metropolitan Police Department's most frequently-used forms were made easier to complete, thanks to the new Police Officer Report Tool (PORT). Deployed on both the MPD intranet site — available internally to all MPD workstations — as well as on 190 test facilities in the field, the system streamlines the paperwork for various routine forms. The initial rollout includes the Implied Consent Form (PD 29), Property Record (PD 81), Witness Statement (PD 119A), Arrest/Prosecution Report (PD 163/A), Court Case Review (PD 168), Continuation Report (PD 202A), and Incident-Based Event Report (PD 251), among others.
By entering information into the forms within PORT, police officers create an electronic record that can be saved on the network and accessed from any MPD location. Best of all, the entered data is shared between forms, cutting down immensely on redundancy.
The program is being launched with mandatory training for PORT Coordinators, who will coordinate training of additional personnel in their units.
