Washingtonians Get Involved
Policing for Prevention is the Metropolitan Police Department's strategy to make the District of Columbia the safest major city in America. But to reach this height, every Washingtonian must play a role. From the residents who live, work, and raise their families here to the business owners who provide services for the city's residents and visitors; from the professionals who build their careers in the Nation's Capital to faith and community group leaders and the youth of this city˜each of us have the power to help keep the city safe.
What can you do to help make the District of Columbia the safest major city? Doing your part can be as simple as calling 3-1-1, instead of 9-1-1, to report non-emergencies, or as involved as becoming an active member of your Police Service Area (PSA) problem-solving team. To discover all the possibilities, click on some of the links below. But please remember: Do not put yourself at risk as you work to improve your community. Work with others.
