Eric O. Stanchfield is the Executive Director of the District of Columbia Retirement Board (DCRB), a position he has held since 2007.
As Executive Director, Mr. Stanchfield provides leadership and manages all day-to-day operations of the Retirement Board and oversees both the investment of pension assets and the administration of pension benefits. Mr. Stanchfield is also the liaison between the policy-making functions of the Retirement Board and the implementation and execution of those policies by the staff.
Mr. Stanchfield worked for the Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF), a state agency that administers employee benefit plans for Wisconsin’s state and municipal employers, teachers, protective employees (police officers and firefighters), and all elected officials. During his tenure, he served as Chief Executive Officer from 1992 to 2007. He also served as Trustee and Secretary to the State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) during that period. Additionally, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of ETF from 1987 to 1992. Prior to his positions with ETF, he served as executive director of a multi-specialty medical clinic and vice president of a health maintenance organization.
Mr. Stanchfield is a native of Washington, DC and is a graduate of Wilson High School. He received a B.A. in Political Science and Administration and an M.A. in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Currently, Mr. Stanchfield is on the Advisory Board of the LaFollette School of Public Affairs (University of Wisconsin), past-President of National Association of State Retirement Administrators (NASRA), and serves as a committee member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP).
